Mammography uses low-dose X-rays to capture multiple layers of images within each breast. These images enable the detection of tumors or tiny calcium deposits that may indicate the presence of cancer.
Mammography is the most reliable technique for detecting lumps and other early symptoms of breast cancer. It is especially effective in the earliest stages—when treatment has the highest success rate. The American Cancer Society recommends regular mammography for middle-aged women. Women over the age of 45 are at a higher risk due to lower immunity, hormonal imbalances, and menopause.
